Hal has extensive experience in the role of board member of charitable organizations and was selected as president of SPIRIT Serving Veterans because of his ability to synthesize diverse opinions and balance business goals with cultural dynamics. He has owned his own business for many years and is currently a senior vice president at SmithGroupJJR, one of the largest architectural firms in the nation. Hal lives in Vienna, VA.

Drew is an OIF (Operation Iraqi Freedom) veteran and served from 1999-2009. He is currently employed by a government aerospace company. Having served combat missions, he is keenly aware of the challenges veterans face returning to civilian life, particularly those with TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). Drew lives in Nashua, NH.

Michelle is a licensed clinical psychologist. She received her doctorate in clinical psychology and her master’s degree in psychology from Argosy University in Washington, DC. Dr. Bruce completed her dual bachelor’s degree in psychology and Spanish at Penn State University. She has worked with active duty military members, veterans and their families since 2009. Dr. Bruce works as a primary care psychologist at the Martinsburg WV VA Medical Center. She lives in Ashburn, VA.

Phil served in the United States Marine Corps for twenty three years, concluding his military career as Commanding Officer VMFA-321 Andrews Air Force Base. He is currently a captain with American Airlines. He lives in Purcellville, VA.

Donna Maglio, Mental Health Professional, Spirit Serving Veterans

Donna is a licensed clinical social worker and is certified through the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) to provide Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL). She received her bachelor’s in psychology from Rutgers University and her masters of social work from the University of Pennsylvania. Donna is the owner of Trinity Psychotherapy LLC. She has been working with the military and their families since 2008 and she and Pam have worked together with the military and their families since 2010. Donna is currently an embedded therapist for the United States Marine Corps at Camp Lejuene, NC.

Leslie Roberts

Mental Health Professional

Leslie is a licensed professional counselor with over twenty five years of experience as a clinical supervisor, program manager and direct service provider. Areas of expertise include substance abuse, mental health, trauma issues, family therapy, relapse prevention, continuing care services and equine assisted therapy in a variety of settings. She received the Most Creative Counselor Award Fairfax County in 1992 and 1993 and the Fairfax County Outstanding Performance Award in 2001. She is the national trainer for Mental Health First Aid – Adult and Youth Versions and designed and facilitated and equine psychotherapy program for Fairfax County. Leslie is both PATH and EAGALA certified. She lives in Aldie, VA.
